Could There Be A Fairy Tail Ending For This Rescued Cat?

It was raining hard and very cold on the morning of January 29, 2022 where a cat laid motionless underneath a Cadillac in the sales lot of a car dealership.

There are many cats living on the streets that are frightened and hungry that will never get rescued. Most people take no notice, some notice, but then just walk by.

It was Chuck, a landscape worker at the dealership that first noticed the cat before Christmas, (2021). But, Chuck didn't report the cat needing help until it didn't move from a mud puddle under the Cadillac and wasn't looking very good, he explained.

Chuck didn't find any rescues to help the cat until after he was referred to Erika, one of the local humane cat trappers doing TNR, (Trap, Neuter and Return), that shared his story with Community Animal Network.

His life matters to me, says, DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, founder of Community Animal Network, who helped the suffering cat to see Elaine Wexler-Mitchell, a vet board certified in feline medicine and the owner of, "The Cat Care Clinic", in the city of Orange.

After his exam and blood test, his prognosis for a recovery was good, but the findings were startling, with his medical chart diagnosing FIV, (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), anemia, severe stomatitis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and hyphema which is the cause of the blood that accumulated in his right eye due to a trauma.

His severe case of stomatitis, (a painful mouth disorder), required full mouth dental extractions so that disease causing the inflammation and pain would subside. He is comfortable now and while he no longer has teeth he can eat just fine.

He weighed just 5lbs at the time of his rescue and showed his appreciation to Erika by rubbing his head on her hands that soothed him throughout his exam. He has continued to gain weight throughout his recovery.

The rescue photos are graphic and disturbing to many, but followed with an amazing story of his recovery and the hope is that he soon will be living a "Fairy Tail", 2 years after his rescue.

His rescuer Erika calls him, Mr. Baker, "the biscuit maker" because his paws are always showing happiness by "kneading and making biscuits".

Mr. Baker is a 9 year old friendly Orange Tabby.

Now, two years "after" his rescue, Mr. Baker is being considered for adoption pending his health exam. They say that "Love is Blind", and without even meeting him, his hopeful "could be" adopter fell in love with him already.

She's seen all his gruesome rescue photos and has learned of his disclosures and his sweetness and says, "If Mr. Baker's health can be reasonable medically managed, I will adopt him and take him home sight unseen." This would occur after concluding any needed recommended follow-up treatment and acceptance of any new findings.

Mr. Baker's "pre-adoption health exam" is Friday, January 26, 2024, and will be performed by Dr. Elaine Wexler-Mitchell at "The Cat Care Clinic".

Community Animal Network may have found the perfect home for what was once a shadow that laid motionless under a car. If for some reason Mr. Baker's isn't adopted he will continue to be "in waiting".
